Mapping Logic vs. Multi-Location Radius Logic
Contents Hide
You can specify several radial locations using both the Mapping feature and the Multi-Location Radius feature. There is a difference, however, in the backend logic the system uses in each case.
If the radial locations are specified with the Mapping feature, the system uses the hierarchy logic, distributing the records based on the order in which the locations were created by user.
The following image illustrates the hierarchy logic the system applies if the Mapping feature is used.
If two or more locations overlap, the system distributes the records according to the order in which the locations were selected. For example, if two locations overlap, the records from the overlapping areas are included to the location specified first.
You can reprioritize the locations through the mapping interface. For information about reprioritizing locations, see Change Location Priority.
If the radial locations are specified with the Multi-Location Radius feature, the system distributes the records based on their proximity to the starting points. So if two locations overlap, and an address is situated on the territory of both locations, the system considers it belonging to the location whose center (starting point) is closer to the address.
The following image illustrates the logic the system applies if the Multi-Location Radius feature is used.
