Census Tract

Census tract is a small statistical subdivision of a county. Usually these coincide with the limits of cities, towns or other administrative areas and several tracts commonly exist within a county. In the United States, census tracts are subdivided into census block groups and census blocks. The option to use census tracts is available only in some lists. Each Census Tract is assigned an 11-digit numeric code. For more information, see FIPS Codes.

Specify Census Tracts

1           On the Geography tab, click Census Tract.

2           In the corresponding text boxes, enter the11-digit Census Tract codes you want to include in the search. If you do not know them, use Lookup.

To clear the text boxes of all entries, click Clear All.

Census Tract Lookup

1           On the Census Tract page, click Look Up.

2           Use one of the following lookup options:

         County name. Enter a complete or partial county name in the corresponding text box.

         FIPS code. Enter a 5-digit FIPS county code in the corresponding text box.

3           Click Search.  

4           Select the Census Tract codes you want to include in your search.

5           Click Add Selected Codes.
